If you are in the 18-25 Generation - We're all looking for relationships, we're all looking for more than facebook friends and Instagram messages and we are all trying to make sense of the world that we live in. If you are the kind of person that believes in the importance of Christian community with your peers, this event is for you! You don't have to be a "member" to come, it's for you and for your friends. We hope you'll consider helping make these events continue to grow as God uses us to make an impact in your generation and beyond and that it would be an encouragement to many others in their walk with Jesus. Here are a few simple ways to get involved:
* JUST SHOW UP - Our two day Winter Break conference invites young adults from all over the country to gather as we share and make known the history and stories of God's faithfulness. An encouraging two day event that is meant to help us wrestle with taking ownership of this gift of Grace and relationship that God gives you in Christ and what it means for your life and the lives of people around you.
* SPREAD THE WORD - Who do you know is struggling with their Christian identity? Who do you know has a heart that breaks for the pain of others in their community? Who do you know that is looking for hope that will last? Awake and Alive has spread mainly by word of mouth and in the past four years we have had had about 150 people share in these events. We would love to double, triple, quadruple the reach of this encouragement in Christ, but it really only happens if people know about it and are invited to it by people who are coming too. We have a Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feed as well as this website to help you encourage others and get the word out.
* LEAD AND SERVE - Do you enjoy creating comfortable environments? Do you have ability to lead conversations? Are you a good listener? Do you have skill in media or creative sciences and acting? All of these are ways in which young adults have partnered with these events to make them... more. We're looking for people who can humbly lead peer group discussions. We're looking for people who would enjoy being part of the team that helps set up the room beforehand and can add some muscle to putting it back after the event. In time we are hoping to do more small group ministry as God brings peer leaders into what is happening. If you would like to consider serving or leading, please contact Awake and Alive director Mike Westendorf for more information.
High School Seniors - You are the next generation to enter this exciting and challenging time of life. The explosion of freedoms as well as temptations, the depth of insight to the Christian walk as well as the challenges to it, all intensify this time of life. We want to invite Seniors to be a part of these events as you have an opportunity to talk with people who are a little further down the road of life from you and to find encouragement in a group of peers and future mentors.
What if I'm older than 25? Because of the unique time that is the 18-25 time of life, we ask that people older than 25 consider being part of the volunteer efforts and take advantage of some of the occasional leadership sessions that we do at local churches. You may also find some encouragement from our numerous session videos that are online from our previous events and speakers.
Volunteers - If you would like to help with our conference event as a way to serve 18-25 year olds, or if you have additional questions on how you can support Awake and Alive and what your support goes toward, please contact Awake and Alive Coordinator Jill Dunbar - email@example.com or Director Mike Westendorf - firstname.lastname@example.org - 414-507-8250
